AKA "What Data I Collect and Why You Probably Don't Need to Worry"
(Required by GDPR. Sigh.)

The Quick Version

What I collect: Server logs (IP address, browser, when you visited). If you email me, I store your email and message.

What I don't do: No tracking cookies. No analytics. No selling your data to advertisers. No newsletter. No creepy stuff.

Your rights: You can ask me what I have, tell me to delete it, or complain to the German data protection authorities if I'm being shady.

That's it. If you want the boring legal details, keep reading.

Who's Responsible for Your Data?

Matthias Enge
Warzechastr. 15
16816 Neuruppin
Germany

Email: contact@matlog.dev

(Same person as in the imprint. It's just me.)

What Data Gets Collected?

1. Server Logs (Automatic)

When you visit this site, the web server logs:

  • Your IP address
  • What page you visited
  • When you visited
  • Your browser and operating system
  • Where you came from (referrer URL)

Why? To keep the site running and catch security issues (like if someone tries to hack it).

How long: Logs are rotated/deleted after 30 days.

(This data is stored by my hosting provider, Hetzner. See below.)

2. Email

If you email me, I store:

  • Your email address
  • Your name (if you tell me)
  • Your message

Why? To respond to your question. Pretty obvious.

How long: Until you ask me to delete it, or until it's obviously no longer relevant (e.g., 2 years after our last email).

3. What I DON'T Collect

No cookies: This site doesn't use tracking cookies.

No third-party trackers: No Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any of that nonsense.

Who Else Sees Your Data?

Hosting Provider: Hetzner

This site is hosted on servers run by:

Hetzner Online GmbH
Industriestr. 25
91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany

They process server logs (IP addresses, etc.) to keep the server running. Their privacy policy: hetzner.com/legal/privacy-policy

(Hetzner is a German company, so your data stays in the EU.)

That's It

I don't share your data with anyone else. No advertisers, no data brokers, no creepy third parties.

Your Rights

Under GDPR, you can ask me for a copy of your data, tell me to correct or delete it, or object to how I'm using it.

Just email me at contact@matlog.dev. I'll handle it within a few days.

If you think I'm doing something shady, you can complain to the German data protection authority (BfDI). But honestly, just email me first.
